In Lesotho we work to build healthy communities, with a focus on improving young people’s sexual and reproductive health and social accountability.
Healthy communities

Group sessions give young people the space to rate the health services available to them
In the Mafetang district, we work with the Ministry of Health to improve access to sexual and reproductive health (SRH) information and services for vulnerable adolescents. Together, we’ve established 17 dedicated youth-friendly spaces within health facilities, and trained 680 peer educators who offer counselling and advice to young people – especially herd boys, one of the area’s most marginalised and hard-to-reach populations.
We’re empowering young people to exercise their rights to quality healthcare, and hold the government accountable when standards fall short. Adolescents have used a scorecard system to rate the health services available to them, showing them that they have the right to expect – and demand – adequate SRH services.
Improving young people's access to SRH information and services
Our partnership with Tackle Africa and Skillshare uses the power of football to provide young people with essential knowledge about SRH, whilst giving them the confidence to realise their sexual health rights. Through coaching, drills and tournaments, young people are encouraged to discuss SRH issues in an engaging and non-threatening space.
