FAQs

Where is the event venue?

The event will be held at The British Library Knowledge and Learning Hub. The nearest train stations are Euston and St Pancras International.

Directions and parking restriction information can be found on the British Library website www.bl.uk/visit/getting-here.

What is the dress code?

No formal dress code for the event. We will all be wearing smart casual.

Is the venue accessible?

The British Library Knowledge and Learning Hub is fully accessible with ramp access and lift facilities. Please let us know your accessibility requirements when you RSVP.

Who is invited to the event?

The event is being held for VSO Return Volunteers who responded directly to our pilot re-connection campaign in April and May. We recognise that travelling or attending events alone is not ideal for everyone and for this reason we are offering each invitee a plus one.

Due to the number of responders to the campaign, we are unable to offer anything more than the allotted plus one.

The success of this event will help shape events of this type in 2024 and beyond. The invitee list for future events will expand for those UK based volunteers who were not part of the Spring 2023 re-connection campaign.

My friend is an RV, but they did not respond to the campaign/not get an invite, can they come?

How wonderful that you already know some of your fellow VSO volunteers, you can bring them as your plus one if you so wish.

This event is a pilot event. It is being run as part of a ‘re-connection’ initiative whereby invitees to the event are people who directly responded to a pilot Facebook and radio campaign in May.

The reason you are invited is because you responded directly to this campaign. There was a resounding response to the campaign and there are venue guest volumes that we must work within the parameters of. Therefore, we must limit invitees to those who responded to the campaign directly, plus their one guest.

The plan is for the event in November to be the first of a series of reunion style events for UK based former volunteers. The success of this event will help shape events of this type in 2024 and beyond. The invitee list for future events will expand to those UK based volunteers who were not part of the Spring 2023 re-connection campaign.

In the meantime, volunteers who did not respond to our campaign in May and who are not joining you as your plus one can keep in touch by:

How much does it cost to attend the event?

There is no ticket cost for this event. If you wish to make a donation to VSO you can do so over the phone, or via our website www.vsointernational.org/get-involved/support-us. Thank you.

Will there be food at the event?

There will be tea, coffee and soft drinks available throughout the event. There will be a light buffet lunch available during a break in the programme, to include both vegetarian and vegan options. Please share your dietary requirements when you RSVP.

Can you tell me who else is going?

Due to GDPR data protection we are not able to share the names of other guests. On the day there will be a registration desk and name badges.

We have set up a Facebook group for this event for those who responded to the re-connection campaign. You can join it here: www.facebook.com/groups/vsovolunteerreunion
