Donate shares

Turn your unwanted shares into a gift that changes lives when you donate them to VSO.  Your gift of shares will help create lasting change.  At VSO we put people first:  our volunteers work in collaboration with some of the world’s most marginalised and poorest communities to take charge of their own development.

Why should I give a share gift?

When you donate shares to VSO, they are a valuable source of income for us. Using the power of volunteering – your shares can help change lives. Together we can:

  • Make sure everyone gets the skills they need to live a fulfilled, dignified life. More about our education work
  • Ensure people have the skills and opportunities needed to support themselves and their families. More about our work building resilient livelihoods.
  • Improve health services and empower people to exercise their right to quality care. More about our health work.

We will put your share gift to work immediately, and you will know that your share gift has helped change the lives of some of the most vulnerable and marginalised people we work with.

You may also be entitled to relief from income tax and capital gains tax on the value of your donation. For further information, contact your financial adviser or your local tax office.

How can I give a share gift?

For VSO, the most cost-effective way to give a share gift is through a share donation charity. ShareGift handle small and large holdings on our behalf.

For small holdings you can donate to ShareGift and suggest VSO as the charity you would like to benefit.

For larger holdings over £500 please contact us and we will work through the large donor process with you and ShareGift.
