Memory in class

Will you give the life-changing gift of education?

Schools in Malawi are in a desperate situation. There are students in classrooms with up to 200 other children. They have no books, no desks and no chairs. Children, and girls particularly, are at risk of being forced our of school and into child marriage and a lifetime of poverty.

It’s not right, but it CAN change. Will you help keep girls in school so they can learn the skills they urgently need to build a better future? Donate today.

Help a girl like Memory build a better future.

In Malawi, 88% of children enrol in primary school, but only 33% complete the vital first stage of their education*.

Memory lives in rural Malawi, in a home with a cement floor and an iron sheet roof. She wakes up every morning at 6 to walk an hour to school.  Her class has over 200 children and just one teacher. Without desks, books, or even a place to sit, learning feels almost impossible.

Girls living in extreme poverty often drop out of school, trapped in a cycle of poverty, early marriage, and pregnancy. But Memory dreams of becoming a nurse, and she refuses to give up. Will you stand with her today?

Thanks to changemakers like you, Memory now attends a VSO learning centre at her school. In a calm and supportive space, she’s learning vital skills like reading, writing, and counting, with guidance from a dedicated VSO volunteer. These life-changing skills are helping her thrive and build a path to a brighter future.

Your gift could help another girl like Memory learn, grow, and build a better future. Will you help another girl gain the skills she needs to escape poverty? Donate today to give the gift of education.
