World Food Day 2023

1 in 10 people across the world go to bed hungry every evening, yet 981 million tonnes of food (17%) is wasted each year, contributing to 10% of global carbon emissions.

Our global food system is broken. Transformation of agriculture and the food system is urgently needed to address the multiple challenges of climate and ecological crisis, as well as livelihoods and food crisis.

This world food day, we are highlighting how VSO’s volunteers and primary actors are working to support communities to ensure they have better access of and control over their food supply and ensure access safe sources of food.
