How do I let VSO know they have been left a bequest in the Will I am administering?

How do I pay a bequest of a specific cash amount (pecuniary)?  

If the gift is a fixed sum of money (also known as a pecuniary legacy gift), the process is quite simple.  

To pay by BACS  all you need to do is contact Heidi Weisskopf via email legacies@vsoint.org or over the phone 020 878 7500 and she will provide the details for you.

To pay by cheque all you need to do is send a cheque for the correct amount payable to VSO, with a covering letter including the deceased’s name, address and any other information that you may consider helpful, addressed to Heidi Weisskopf, Planned Giving Manager, VSO, 2 Putney Hill, London, SW15 6AB 

How do I pay a bequest of a percentage amount (residuary)? 

When you’re ready to apply for probate - or earlier, if possible - we would appreciate if you could send a copy of the will and a list of the estate’s assets and liabilities to Heidi Weisskopf, Planned Giving Manager, VSO, 2 Putney Hill, London, SW15 6AB. 

Because of our charitable status, some assets may need to be treated in a particular way because of tax, and the sooner we can advise you of this, the better. 

So that we can meet our legal and auditing responsibilities, we also request: 

• a copy of the Will 
• estate accounts – including a list of the assets and liabilities of the estate 
• a tax deduction certificate (form R185)
