Role overview

To develop linkages of VSO Pakistan with networks and organizations in UK working on diaspora for engaging diaspora volunteers especially young diaspora volunteers.
To conduct a study/analysis of perception of diaspora communities about volunteering in Pakistan also engaging Pakistani communities and CSOs for developing engagement strategy for VSO Pakistan.

Skills, qualifications and experience

The perfect candidate for this role has:
Pakistani Diaspora from UK, holder of Pakistan origin card and does not require visa to enter and work in Pakistan.
Bachelors or Master’s degree in social science, or any related discipline
Strong connections with British- Pakistani diaspora communities and networks/organizations working with diaspora communities

Cross-Cultural Working
Direct and substantial experience of working cross-culturally and able to communicate to a range of audiences and promote sharing and learning between cultures

Knowledge of community issues
Knowledge of issues which are common to communities in Pakistan , Experience of promoting learning about social issues

Possession of strong verbal communication in English language to work effectively and inclusively with an overseas colleague. Strong written communication skills needed for writing reports in English language.
Experience of working in a supervisory
role. Proven ability to promote self-awareness, learning and development among individuals.

Planning and Organizing
Able to develop clear and realistic plans to deliver agreed objectives within deadlines, involving key individuals in the planning process.

IT skills:
Strong computer skills with expertise in MS Office (MS Word, Excel, Power Point)
Understanding of local dynamics and culture.

Fluent in Spoken Urdu

Sufficient experience of working with volunteers to understand the key factors which make volunteer placements viable, effective and rewarding.

Note: This is an international volunteer role and open to Pakistani diaspora from UK only.

Allowance and accommodation

All volunteers have an allowance paid in local currency. The allowance meets reasonable living expenses in country, but will not be enough to send money home.

VSO works with some of the poorest communities in the world which means accommodation varies and will be basic.
