VSO Volunteer Awards Tomos Wilding

What are the VSO Volunteer Awards?

These awards are an opportunity to publicly thank VSO volunteers for their contributions around the world. They will recognise achievements of volunteers in reducing global poverty and inequality.

The first Volunteer Awards will take place in November 2016.

Who can win an award?

The categories are as follows:

Outstanding effort or achievement from a professional volunteer working in their own country

Professional volunteer (international)
Outstanding effort or achievement from a professional volunteer working in a different country to their own

Youth volunteer award (national)

Volunteer team award
Recognising the achievements of a team of volunteers working together

Alumni/returned volunteer award

Special award
An opportunity to nominate a volunteer who might not fall into the other categories, but who you feel strongly should be recognised for their achievements - for example fantastic fundraising, overcoming exceptional challenges, or perhaps a volunteer turned-staff-member!

Who can nominate volunteers to win an award

Any VSO staff members and current volunteers. VSO ICS alumni (including Lattitude, Skillshare and Pravah) are also voting. You cannot nominate yourself.

How can I nominate a volunteer?

You can only nominate one person for one award. Once you have decided who to nominate you have until 28 August 2016 to do so.

By email
Email your nomination to vso.info@vsoint.org (link will open a template email in your default email programme). Alternately, you can download and complete the form and return it via email.

By sending a video nomination
Record your nomination in a video. The clip should be under two minutes and include:

  • the name of the person you are nominating
  • which award they should be considered for
  • where and when they volunteered
  • what their personal contribution was
  • why they deserve to win!

Please send your video clip to us via email or WeTransfer to vso.info@vsoint.org including the name and contact details of you and the person you are nominating.
