Mari Simeon steps down as chair of International Board
Mari Simeon will be stepping down as Chair of the VSO International Board, a position she has held for over six years.
During her time, Mari has made a huge contribution to VSO’s mission, overseeing significant change within the organisation and helping to ensure that we deliver greater impact against our mission.
Mari has brought her years of expertise and experience to the table, most recently as the Deputy Executive Director, UN Populations Fund.
She has supported VSO’s huge accomplishments, including the growth of youth programming, the shift towards People First programming and the continuance of DfID support for volunteering for development. Under her tenure, VSO has become a more global organisation than ever before.
We know that we have a lifelong friend in Mari, and are forever grateful for her support.
The Board is delighted to announce that the current Vice Chair and former Chair of VSO UK Board, Sam Younger, will be taking over.
Sam comes with a wealth of experience as Chief Executive of the Charity commission, the Electoral Commission, the British Red Cross and Head of the BBC World Service. We are grateful for the commitment he has shown by accepting this role.
