In Lesotho we focus on improving adolescent sexual reproductive health and social accountability.
Set up and promoted youth-friendly corners in 17 health facilities of Mafeteng district to increase available information and access of health services by young people.
680 peer educators were trained and attached to health facilities to provide counselling, advice and make referrals to health staff.
64 VSO peer educators continued their development to become community-based health trainers for other international organisations.
RHAISA – the Regional HIV and AIDS Initiative for Southern Africa – operates in six countries: eSwatini, Malawi, Mozambique, Lesotho, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
Our projects focus on people affected by the HIV and AIDS pandemic at the community, national and policy level. There are three main areas:
- Health and HIV and AIDS in prisons
- Gender and women’s livelihoods
- Sexual and reproductive health and rights, including child marriage
Volunteering for Development programme
The Volunteering for Development programme, funded by the UK’s Department for International Development (DFID) works to improve quality and access to health and education services as well as livelihood opportunities for the most poor and vulnerable.
