Role overview

Lead and manage People and Operations as well as recruitment functions in the country office as a trusted people business partner. Providing leadership, expertise and high quality services to enable VSO people, employees and volunteers to deliver their best.

Skills, qualifications and experience

As country people manager you'll provide leadership, expertise and high quality services to enable VSO people, employees and volunteers to deliver effectively.
As a member of the country Senior Management Team working in a small office team, you will positively influence and provide operational hands-on support. Dealing with multiple demands you'll build team capacity to deliver high quality programming through an exciting and ambitious phase of expansion. You will foster an inclusive working environment and ensure that staff and volunteers are inspired to work together as one VSO team valuing accountability, resilience, social inclusion and gender to achieve the country strategic goals. You will be working with international and national staff and volunteers– as well as global, regional and country teams and ensure we get the most out of our people resources with effective operational support. Key areas will range from effective people resourcing, performance management, people information system management, compensation and benefits, engagement, safeguarding, security, health and safety, duty of care, learning and development for both employees and volunteers. More importantly, you will manage a team to ensure the smooth running of office management, IT and logistical support to staff and volunteers.
You will be at the forefront of our efforts for transformation changes, supporting organisation development and embedding a People First culture.

The ideal candidate shall collaborate with colleagues to inform the design and development of programs with appropriate skills availability that will deliver expected impact, He/ She will lead in supporting program and hiring managers in developing role descriptions and advert text to attract talent to VSO and share knowledge with others on how to improve people planning activities.
The role holder will provide expertise on local labour market analysis, make contact with potential sources of skills and build resourcing partnerships. Build and maintain local networks and partnerships in support of VSO’s business pursuit of talent and funding. Build and maintain an active talent pool of people (voluntary people resource, employees and volunteers)
