VSO China to launch second Volunteering Expo in Beijing

30/11/2011 14:00:00

Following on from the success of last year's expo, VSO China is once again working in partnership with several organisations (including the School of Social Development and Public Policy of Beijing Normal University and Huizeren) to celebrate volunteerism in China. This unique event will take place on 4-5 December at Beijing Normal University.

Government, non-government, corporate and academic sectors will debate the challenges and opportunities of volunteering for harmonious development in China and to network and showcase volunteering initiatives.

A full day of training on volunteer programme development and volunteer management will be available to organisations interested in developing volunteering.

Coinciding with International Volunteer Day, the event aims to provide inspiration to further develop volunteerism in China and overseas from China. This year the event will also mark the 10th anniversary of International Year of the Volunteer (IYV +10); to celebrate the global contribution of volunteering is making to achieving the Millennium Development Goals.

Build up to the Expo is well underway with online discussions and debates on topics such as the most influential volunteering moments over the last 10 years and how people can create their own V (Volunteering) Day. Live forum debates and volunteer-specific training online will take place during the event.

China Volunteering Expo 2011 (China)

Why volunteer?

Volunteering is one of the most rewarding ways you can make a real difference to people living in the toughest circumstances. Most people join us because they want to give something back and find they get much more in return.
