Kenyan orphanage for HIV-positive children 'saved by funding'

An orphanage for youngsters affected by HIV has been kept afloat in Kenya with the help of funds from the US singer Cher and actor Clint Eastwood, it has been reported.
The future of the Togetherness School, which was established by a couple from Fife, has been secured by funds from the artist after its founders appealed for financial help four years ago through Sky News.
Following the broadcast, Cher and Eastwood offered financial assistance to the establishment, which has now been re-opened after a period of adversity, reported Sky.
The donations enable children to receive clothes, education and food.
"It was a proud day," explained the school's administrator Jackson M'buti Gitonga to the news provider, "But it was also sad, as we were missing our Scottish founders. We owe everything to Robert and Eleanor. And, of course, Cher."
In other news, the Kenyan Red Cross reported this week that around 30,000 people have been affected by flooding in Kenya, which was brought about by the onset of recent heavy rains.
