Manchester United football star Ryan Giggs has taken steps to raise awareness of HIV and AIDS.
The player has recently undertaken a trip to Sierra Leone as part of a drive to raise awareness of the disease.
According to the Mirror, he said in an interview with ITVs News at Ten that while footballers may often be described as brave while on the pitch their actions are not really courageous at all.
He argued that instead, bravery comes from individuals who stand up and face the challenges posed by HIV.
"What I've seen today a 21-year-old lad who was telling me that he's positive for HIV and what he wants to do about it, that he wasn't to educate other people, that he wants to help stop it happening to other young me and to other young women that's bravery," Giggs argued.
He also noted that HIV continues to be most prevalent among young people and so hopes that people who refuse to listen to teachers or professionals will listen to him as a football star and take note of the dangers posed by HIV.
