Why do something?

"Education is our backbone and a person cannot stand up straight if they do not have a backbone, so they should start taking our education seriously" says Loide Mpinge, pictured above.

Seventeen-year-old Loide is a student at Impumbo school in Oshana, northern Namibia. The Oshana region has the lowest standards of education in the country and a teacher population that is inadequately trained and demotivated.

"The problem is that we don’t have enough teachers and some only come to classes when they feel like it", explains Loide. "But we’ve got a right to be taught. That’s why we come to school". And that’s why Loide, is now campaigning for her right to a quality education. "We are united in our own slogan, ‘education for all’. To me education for all, it has no discrimination – whether you are white, disabled, whatever you are."
